Research and Teaching Interests

  • Medieval Literature and Culture:
    • Old and Middle English literatures, including Aelfric, Old English poetry, Chaucer, Gower and Malory
    • Particular interests in Old English religious texts, Middle English romance, hagiography, and medieval popular literatures
    • European medieval literatures, especially Arthuriana
    • Translation and adaptation in medieval literary culture
  • Theory and methodologies:
    • Gender and queer theory
    • History of sexuality and obscenity
    • History of emotions, particularly as pertains to friendship
    • Translation and adaptation theories, medieval and modern
    • Adaptation, transformative works theories, and medievalisms

Particular teaching experience:

  • Old and Middle English language & reading skills
  • Medieval literature taught through genre and comparative studies
  • Cross-period first year teaching, with emphasis on research and analysis skills
  • Experience teaching interdisciplinary units and teaching cross-disciplinary historical skills to English majors
  • Academic writing for non-native speakers
  • Managing e-learning platforms
